Took my new 'Tactical Hostage' out to the range yesterday. Here are my notes.

AS is is Utah, so shipping kinda stings, but I did use a 15% off coopin, so that helped a little. For ~$200 shipped, I am very pleased.

"Portable" Well, kinda! Relative to heavier hard-mounted steel target, I can see the label of 'portable', but I wouldn't want to move it every day. It all stays assembled and kinda folds down to make it portable, with a handle as a part of the structure. Its awkward to carry and maybe 35# in total, so 'portable' is generous, but its not a deal breaker.

Assembly was relatively straight forward; the directions are not model specific, mostly how to operation the legs and frame, but I figured it out out a few minutes. The unit can remain assembled for the most part during storage and transport, just be mindful of the swinging parts, the can come unhinged and fall/drop

Quality is obvious; its much heavier duty than I thought it would be for a 22 target. The blue target areas are also heavy, but they functioned as advertised, moving and easily seen (while moving) out to distances of 100 yards.(farthest distance tested yesterday)

A nice safety feature is that the target is slightly angled downwards, regardless of assembly, so when the target is struck, the bullet fragments are directed to the ground

One thing I am going to try to make transport a little easier is to use a Amazon.com: Black Giant Side Zipper Canvas Duffle Bag (30" x 50"): Clothing@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/3197uokGlfL.@@AMEPARAM@@3197uokGlfL to store and transport. This should make it easier to carry and should help protect both it, and the interior of my car.

In summary, if you have a personal range, or one where you're allowed to bring and place your own targets, it is excellent fun.

Pros:
Very well built
assembles without much effort
portable
great fun

Cons:
can be a little cumbersome to transport

Did your hits on the swinging portion consistently swing the plate? Did you have any instances of half swings with the swinging portion stuck behind the main plate?

I just want to be assured that a .22LR hit has enough energy to swing the plate. What ammo did you use, and did you see different results with different ammo?

I was using subsonic, standard bulk, and a little bit of HV.

It acted as you would expect; hits on the center and bottom portion of the center mass swinging plate made it swing the most; hits hits on the upper portion of the center mass swinging plate made it swing less; the head swinger was pretty easy to flip out to 50 yards.

I had one case where the head swinger did stop mid way, and remained hidden behind the primary figure head, but another single shot to the primary figure vibrated it to the correct position; again, it depends on where you make contact.

I think AT has some videos posted on YT

The Action target Bullseye is a lighter alternative and comes on the same Evil Roy stand, that folds down with the built in carry handle. I carry mine all over the place.

I have a camera mount on the 15-22; will take some video at the next outing

To be clear, all you are seeing is lead splatter & chipped paint. If you rub your finger over the hits, you feel nothing. There are no dents or dimples.

I just keep some spray paint handy & touch up every so often.

Yep; was researching that today; care and feeding of the Tactical Hostage :D

Will throw a can of flat back and flat blue in the range bag for the next trip

I have the Action Target .22 Dueling Tree. That is an awesome target as well. Got it from Brownells for under $150 shipped.
These are nothing like the **** I find locally. They are well built and heavy.

I find the Rust-Oleum in Maui Blue (Walmart) is pretty close to the Action Target blue.
