Gunslinger, you're certainly entitled to your opinions, but I think most of your disappointment stems from unrealistic expectations for the 15-22. For the price, I think it's the best dedicated AR-pattern .22LR available. Is it equal in quality, weight, accuracy, reliability, and materials to my BCM 5.56? Absolutely not, but I never expected it to be.
It is what it is, a polymer semi-auto blow-back removable mag rimfire rifle. All of that is going to have some inherent drawbacks compared to bolt guns, center fire guns, TDP-compliant AR-15s, etc. In the end, if you're not happy with your purchase then sell it and buy something you'd be satisfied with. That is absolutely your prerogative.
Just keep in mind that most 15-22 owners are quite happy with the rifle for what it is.

Upper can't be used on a regular AR lower, this was a strike on me, if I had researched it better I would have known, still it'd have been nice to be able to use it on a select fire lower when I feel like a little rock and roll.

Now I didn't start this thread to anger folks or belittle their choices, if you guys enjoy yours that's great.
I'll probably take Majorlk's advice and sell it to fund a dedicated .22 upper.

Give this setup a shot as it might provide what you are seeking:
CMMG dedicated upper (or build your own using CMMG bolt conversion)
Better-Mag adapter
M&P15-22 magazines
Lower of your choice

Done.

3-4 MOA is the same accuracy requirement of the military M4 and M4A1 using M855. Just FYI.

I love my 15-22 because I bought it for the right reasons and it actually exceeds my expectations.

If you bought the wrong thing, try again. You probably should have sold it in the middle/late January though. Then you'd have cleaned up.

Same happened when I said I sold my 15/22 to put money to an AR-15, then later got a conversion which I liked as a better setup than my 15/22. I said accuracy was the same in my AR as my 15/22, was told 15-22 was more accurate.

i have 3 10-22's and one canned 15-22. one of the 10-22's went from the standard rifle to a $1200 VQ beauty tack driver. the reason i like the 15-22 is the fun factor and it is a good bunny gun. i have not found a reliable hi cap mag for a 10-22 yet, but have not had a failure in the 15-22 unless it was the ammo's fault.
i run mine suppressed for hundreds of rounds and have never had a problem with FTE/FTF or any of the other 'F's". Matter of fact, just bought a Hunterstown .22 can yesterday, paperwork going off today so the Pilot II can go back on the 15-22 as a permanent host and i can send the Pilot I off to get jail broken as to make it user serviceable. i use them on my 10-22's also, sound the same, just more accurate with the Ruger than the Smith.

That's because opinions go both ways. They're just putting info out there in the event that he didn't consider certain things. If you were anti-gun for instance, we'd say that you're entitled to your opinion too. But we'd not just leave it at that.

Try a HC3R mag for your 10-22's. Mine work very well

If you're going to go the other route and buy a complete dedicated AR15 .22LR upper with any accuracy, it's going to cost you $400.

This way, people start out with the M&P 15-22 and later get an M&P15 sporter. Smith & Wesson sells two rifles and it's a "win-win".

More importantly, you have 2 complete rifles instead of 1 and 1/2. This was the selling point for me rather than a dedicated .22LR upper for my AR-15.

There is a difference between a .22 conversion for a .223/5.56mm rifle and a dedicated .22LR upper.

The rifling on a 5.56mm rifle is wrong for a .22 (unless you've got a REAL early AR).

Yup, about .002 difference. The diameter of a .223/5.56 projectile is bigger. A .22 LR just sort of "rattles" down the barrel.
