15-22 vs 10-22

"....... CZ. For a quality gun in the $500 or so rim fire you will not touch CZ. Their bluing, quality of wood, etc are second to none in this range. Triggers are significantly heavier and can have some creep. But with mods, can be inexpensively modded at home. If you want a beautiful rifle that can shoot good, there is no other choice without going much higher in price.... "

^^^ Yeah that. CZ 452 American or Varmint.

My M&P 22 MOE shoots a lot better than I can. I have a friend who is into MOA and he has a Savage bolt action with 10x optic, my M&P 22 has a red dot, and needless to say his Savage is a whole lot more accurate out past 50 yards or so.
Mine is exactly what I thought it would be when I bought it, FUN. I can "train" with it (shoot the heck out of it under the guise of training) for less than 1/2 the cost of shooting it's big brother, my M&P 15 MOE. I think that if I really wanted MOA out of it,a better optic would help. They are fun to shoot, but are not target guns and I just can't see putting an optic on it that cost more than the rifle just to hit a target at 200 yards. YMMV.

I had a 10-22 with a weaver 22 scope 2-7x before I got into M4 style carbines. Then I got a 15-22 to do what the 15-22 does best - being an understudy for the centerfire M4. To me, the role of the 15-22 it to emulate the M4 carbine for inexpensive training/practice. If you want 200 yard accuracy, then you are barking up the wrong tree.

+1 for Savage. This is my MK II TR.

My 10/22 shoots half the size groups as my S&W 15-22 but I did put a Valquarten trigger group in the 10/22 which made a huge difference in the trigger pull. It's still not as accurate as a good bolt action 22 and yes I drool over a CZ 452 American and I probably will own one in the future as I have a CZ 550 American in 22-250 and it's an awesome shooter.

I have a cz452 varmit it is the most accurate next is my 10-22T (bull barrel target) it is close to the cz (more fun than cz, 25 round mags against 5 rounds ) my model 60 is good but gets shot the least of any of my 22s The S&W always goes to the range its not close to being as accurate as the 10-22t or cz but it is the most fun to play with

I have a 10-22 with a Volquarten tension barrel and a trigger job done by a local gunsmith. The accuracy is outstanding but as others have pointed out, it's expensive.

I have the same 1!!

Great rifle (only thing I ever bought from Dick's)

I bought this and a Savage 93R .17 HMR from dicks. Both rifles can easily out shoot me...lol

If I'm plinking I take my 15-22 and M&P .22 pistol with me. If I want to shoot a litter further out and have some friendly competition, then I take my Savage.

I have both a 10-22 and an M&P 15-22. The target model 10-22 with bull barrel and trigger group is far more accurate than the M&P; it's a tack driver at anything under 100 yards. I rarely shoot it anymore as the M&P is a much more fun gun to shoot; it's lighter, much more reliable, especially with large capacity mags.
A regular 10-22's accuracy would be the same or just a touch better than the M&P.
If you are looking for accuracy then get a bolt action or the target model 10-22. If you are looking for a fun 22 that does it all then get an M&P 15-22.
