17-2 Box and End Label

Hello JP@AK, Thanks for your reply, no sir, no screw is located in front of trigger guard, pistol has a total of three screws. Forward screw on sight leaf is forward of cylinder gap. So this is what I got..... A box with the correct s/n that matches the gun but model number on box states that it is a 17-2. I have used my optical visor to look at the crane. I have had gun savvy Gentlemen to look at the pistol markings, it is clearly stamped 17-1.

With that description, clearly what you have is a Model 17-3. Both the end label on the box and the stamp in the yoke cut are incorrect. It happens. The serial number does line up with a Model 17-3.

I have a 17-2 serial number K6589XX, end of 1965 production. Something odd about yours. Does the SN on the crane match the SN on the butt?

Yes sir, sure does. I assume it is an error. May increase value. I understand that there is a small premium
for errors.

Thanks

Sure. And my 15-2 with a serial number in the K680000 range shipped in June, 1966. But the OP's K787000 is solidly in -3 territory and all the engineering changes for the -3 are present on his revolver. Case closed. :)
