17-6 for a grand ?

No wonder my brother-n-law has bugged me for years about mine. Maybe it's the grips he's after. He is SOL anyway as I plan to hang onto all of mine and let the children squabble over who gets what gun when I'm gone.

Maybe I need to add a codicil to my will specifying BIL can never get his hands on it. Maybe I will have it cremated with me.

I worked ambulances for alot of years before I went offshore and the one truism of life is that you never know when your going to go. Why not indulge in the things that will make you happy while your still here to enjoy them. Sorry if I was snippy back, felt like someone told me my dog was ugly lol. Now back to the fun any other models in this configuration besides the 14-6 sb? Annnnnd was the 586 ever offered in a 4" target with the same sight set up and combats? Just trying to plan the next 4" k lol. Alot of the fun is in the hunt for these little jewels.

Not sure if your just looking for K frames but the Model 16 in 32 mag Allan showed has the same full underlug,

The 17-6 makes a nice partner gun to the L frame .357 caliber 586 as well .

The Model 29 classic in 44 magnum as well as the 45 caliber Model 25 also has a full underlug as well as some other N frames.

Although they are different frames, K frame finger groove target wood grips will fit L frames with no problemo...
You just have to buy them and put them on.

Those grips also came in N frame size as I have a set on a Model 27.

I'm really interested in the k/l's with 4" full lug barrel, SB, and the partridge front sight setup. I have a 16-4 converible 32H&R/32-20 4" seen here http://smith-wessonforum.com/s-w-revolvers-1980-present/157669-tell-me-about-my-new-me-16-4-a.html

This setup is just the perfect combo for me in fit feel etc. So just seeing what others came in this set up. So far the 14-6 was offered at least in limited numbers. Was a target version of the 586 offered? I know I can get sights changed out just curious as to the factory offerings. I can see at least one custom in the future as well for a 596 as I love the 44 special on the l platform.

Beautiful gun, at LEAST the seller had the heart to leave the grips on the gun and not sell them off to make another few bucks. The 4" blues are not totally rare, BUT a nice one like yours is,especially in CA, I would gladly have paid that for a nice one,and Ive got several other 17s, that blue 4" keeps eluding me. As long as your happy thats a good price, its all about condition. What you need now is a nice 14 ppc 4" from the PC. to match it up with. Nice gun. Bob/ P. S if you ever want to get rid of it !!!!

After watching 6" 17's on GB & AA for some time now going in the $500-600+ price range and seeing decent DW.22's going for almost as much I just took a shot at a cosmetically challenged 6" DW22 on GB and won at $325. Add another $40 for shipping & FFL and I am getting a shooter 22 to play with at a more reasonable price. Never owned a DW but what the heck!

I don't know what the ratio was of the 4" vs. the 6" versions of the 17-6, but the 4" versions sure don't seem to come up for sale often. They are next to impossible to find here in CA. I bought this one in early '04 and have not seen another since. It had been test fired only and came with all of the papers and tools. I added the rosewood stocks as the finger groove Combat Stocks don't fit my fingers, Sorry they are not for sale. I value the package at around $800 and wouldn't sell it.
