18-3 ? what is it?

It's the .22LR version of the M15, a Combat Masterpiece in .22. Another way of looking at it is that it is the 4" companion to the K22 target revolver.
Exactly right. I have one with a pinned barrel and love it.

They are great S&W revolvers and they are 22LR revolvers with a 4 inch barrel and a blast to shoot.

Wow!

4x4x, looks like you've received quite a legacy. Looks to be a terrific collection. Congratulations, and take care of those beauties!

If you are able, please post a list of all the model numbers (visible on the frame under the barrel with the cylinder open), any letters and the first few digits of the SN (like N 123xxx or 1K 234xx), and the finish and barrel length from muzzle to cylinder face. We can give you a good idea of current values with this information.

Just remember you asked for it! Thanks so much for all the help.

Just beautiful. I've been trying to find an M18 locally for a year. Guess I'll have to keep on looking.

That's a fantastic collection, especially with the boxes, papers, tools, and presentation cases. Worth quite a lot, and the prices will keep rising on these.

What a way to get our attention!! You got about $10,000 worth of guns there easily. Give us some more details on how you acquired them, we love stories!!

Personally I think 10k is a huge underestimation. Just the nib Smith's alone are around 3-4 times that if not much more.

The rest of the guns and ammo on the shelf add quite a bit more.

You should really get it appraised and insured asap.

No honestly I did not know. We inherited a collection and I am just learning as I go. Now should I really jack you up? Upon further examination its big brother is here to. I will post more pics in the morning. So What would a pair like this go for in basically nib condition?

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Looking at your collection, I would say your children, if you have any will have no problem getting tuition for college. I would not sell a one of them unless you know that they are going to a good home, and I am sure there are thousands of other collectors on this site that would love to adopt some of those wonderfully pristine pieces. Great collection and keep on doing your research you may change your mind on selling them, once you see what some of them are worth.

I'm making a SWAG of close to $30,000 + Get an individual expert evaluation of all of them, and them post them for sale on this Forum, you will get the best honest prices.

I am swooning! Yes, offer them up here if you want to sell...but yes, get them appraised and insured. Ignore the Blue Book of Gun Values as it is grossly inaccurate in today's market.

I have been searching the LGSs and shows for a Model 18, but slacked off since the madness hit Maryland and we're banned from buying evil black rifles after September 31 - other priorities for my gun money and my Maryland "waiting periods", that now stretch out to more than 80 days.

BUT, as of October 1, the Model 18 returns to top of my list. I'm fully expecting to have to pay $800 for a good example, more with the box.

More pics.

A couple more.

Just remember you asked for it! Thanks so much for all the help.
