I've been looking for a Mod. 18 for a while but, the examples that were available were out of my price range. There was one new in the box last year for $850 another one in 95% condition without the box for $750 and so the search went on until a couple of days ago.
I stumbled upon an ad that appeared on a local web site. The seller was offering two revolvers for sale. One was a Mod. 66, NIB with tools and paper work that had been sold and the second one, which was still available, was a Mod. 18-3.
The price was reasonable and all though there had been several lookers, they decided that the seller was to far from there home base. The seller was, ironically, less than 20 miles away from me. A phone call to him resulted in him being on the road but, returning through my current location and he had the firearm with him.
Needless to say, the stars aligned and the Mod. 18-3 now has a new home. Its not perfect but, it is the shooter that I was looking for and much less than the prom queens that I had previously seen.
