picked up this 18 from a forum member recently. made in 1958
It is almost safe queen condition but will be getting a lot of use.

It is going to the range today for a shoot out against the new Ruger Mark III my wife gave me for Christmas.

Sweet looking, but, I will bet the Ruger MK fires more rounds when you do the tally at the end of the day!!

I love 'em both!! :D

In my case, the bottom feeder only shoots less rounds when I leave it in the gun safe.

That's a great-looking gun, Aviator. Congratulations.

I have a 1952 pre-18 K156xxx that shoot like a dream but isn't near as pretty as your new gun. That's fine with me.... I don't like safe queens. S&W's are made to be shot.

Pretty is nice but it is the shooting that counts with me.
I am not yet sure how well mine shoots. It did have some light leading on the bottom of the forcing cone which seemed to go away after I polished the forcing cone with flitz.
The true test is yet to come.

Beautiful specimen of an 18. Looks even nicer than mine and I thought I had a beaut. Congratulations on your acquisition and many happy hours with it. I'll share a photo of mine just for fun.

Aviator,

That's a screamer! Target hammer and trigger too. I also changed my grips to the PC (plain clothes) style, fit my hand much better.
