A comment about antiques in general: Old+interesting+unusual+rare does not always equate to "$$$".

I just found this thread and enjoyed the read. A couple of thoughts come to mind.
Having done a little free style "picking" in my day( and I'm assuming thats what got you into this gun and research ) I understand the dream of finding a overlooked treasure. They are out there and it makes sorting thru all the junk and all the endless auctions worthwhile. BUT -- the folks here will not mislead you as to this item. I have witnessed the genuine enthusiasm when something valid and rare is brought to light.

It was explained early on to me ,being rare only is not worth money. Somebody else has to want it.

I have offers from $150.00 to $7200.00

7200.00 may be a valid offer, in pesos , in the country where this was made.

Anybody notice that JK4F hasn't been around for a while? Maybe he's trying to return that rare S&W. In the meantime, we keep jawing about his treasure. Interesting reading tho.. must not be anything on TV. Mike #283
