I think that I've finally nailed down this gun. That is, after searching this forum and reading the thoughts of those much smarter about these things than me. I'm pretty sure what I have here is a Model 1905 HE 1st change in .32-20. The serial number is 327xx and there are no pins to align the cylinder star. The serial number appears on the frame, cylinder, crane, barrel and is even written in light pencil on the inside of the right grip panel. I love the look of that old walnut.

What I am not sure about is the value. I've actually placed this in the classifieds section and would be interested hearing if I am out of my mind on the price I have listed. I hope that you enjoy the pictures. I haven't seen much about the 1st change in this model. Are they a little scarce or is there just not much to say?

Welcome to the Forum. You have a 32-20 that is just 5000 from one I recently purchased as a shooter, shipped in 1908. It looks like much of the blue is worn, but the grips do look very nice. Chambers look bright and shiny as well. I will tell you I paid $200 for my 6 1/2" gun and it has absolutely not a wiggle in the cylinder/action. They are fun to shoot as well.

This is a pretty common gun, with over 144,000 manufactured, so I am thinking about $250-$350 would be a fair price and a decent buy, but you might find someone that is willing to pay more.

Thanks for the help with the value. I have adjusted the asking price accordingly. I have heard that these are fun guns to shoot. Aside from the cost of a box of .32-20, I'm hesitant to shoot it. First, I still worry about the cylinder not being heat treated and, second, I just might like it too much and end up having to find a way to reload .32-20.:)
