1905 hand ejector 32-20

DWalt, From my sources Winchester began making the .32 W.HV. M-92 115 grain load in 1903. Maybe, they increased the standard 115 gr. bullet to the higher velocity load for the Model 1892 because of the rifle twist in that rifle. I agree that the lighter 80 gr. bullet at 2000 FPS would be more explosive, and better suited as a Varmint round. When I stated working at the Perry Nuclear Plant in 1984 we used the old Diamond warehouse in Fairport for storage. Your right Diamond Shamrock is long gone!

Looking back through my information, the only .32-20 ammunition I found having a 115 grain bullet was in a 1925 catalog from Dominion (Canada). It shows only two loads, a 115 grain lead bullet and a 115 grain half-jacketed soft point bullet. Unfortunately there is no ballistic information provided, also no indication as to whether either or both is a high velocity load suited only for rifles. The 1930 Remington catalog shows only one HV .32-20 load, the Hi-Speed. It is shown as having an 80 grain "mushroom" bullet (which seems to be a JHP) at 2000 ft/sec. It also lists three standard (not Hi-Speed) .32-20 loads with 100 grain bullets (lead, FMJ, and soft point). MV for all those three is given as 1330 ft/sec, presumably from a rifle but that is unclear. As I earlier said, I have no pre-war Winchester or Western ammunition catalogs, only post-war. I do have a 1947 Western manual that lists a .32-20 Super-X load using an 80 grain bullet, but no ballistics.

I checked out Ventura. They seem to be an ammunition merchant operating out of Las Vegas, selling numerous commercial brands of handgun and rifle ammunition. They also sell at least some calibers under their own label, one of which is .32-20. They do sell something resembling a high velocity .32-20 rifle round, but it seems to be somewhat mildly loaded vs. the earlier HV .32-20 rifle-only cartridges of yesteryear, and uses a different bullet type and weight. At $80/box of 50. https://www.venturamunitions.com/ve...winchester-100gr-jhp-hi-speed-ammo-50-rounds/

Yikes! I didn't see that one as I was looking for mostly revolver ammo and something mild for my 1908 92 rifle.
