1911 in 9mm question

I have a RIA full size in 9mm. It has been a very good pistol. 9mm 1911's are so easy to shoot and mine is very accurate even for me.
It is a heavy pistol compared to some others but the great trigger and low felt recoil help make up for this.

You think the only ammunition to advance has been 9mm? What, did they just invent copper jackets for every size bullet independently for every caliber of bullet all at once? By coincidence?

It is ridiculous to think ammunition advancements give 9mm an advantage because everything else just sits still. Do you think they still load 45 Colt with black powder?

Wow, you resurrected a thread that was long dead!

But the reason why I have a 1911 in 9mm is that it shoots as well as my P210-6 and did not cost much more.

I think the point being made is that advancements in 9mm allow for a pistol chambered in a smaller, lighter round with higher capacity, while still being acceptable.

Nobody is badmouthing 45 here.

"While a Browning HP fits my hand better than a 1911, there's no comparison trigger-wise out of the box"

Agreed, my HP has a C&S spring kit installed.a trigger job and the magazine interlock removed.

I'd recently bought my first 1911, a Ruger full size in 45 ACP.

Walked into a local store and this Lightweight Commander in 9mm was under $500.00 slightly used. Glad I didn't resist the urge. May be my favorite 9mm.

The 9mm 1911 is for:
1. Competition shooters who want to "game" the system.
2. People with hand issues that have problems with heavier recoil.
3. 9mm fan boys who are absolutely convinced its the best self defense round ever.
4. People who don't reload because 9mm ammo is cheap.
5. Wimps.

But it ain't for me. I dearly love the 1911 and have a bunch of them. Everything from compacts to long slides and even a few of its .380 little brothers. Calibers are .22LR, .38 Super and .45acp.
But there ain't a 9mm in the bunch. To me, putting that cartridge in a 1911 just amounts to blasphemy.
When I want a SA 9mm, I go for one of my Hi-Powers. Now that is what a 9mm 1911 really should be. ;)

Of course I can't rule it out completely. Old Arthur has gotten into my hands and some day I may end up stooping low enough to buy a 9mm 1911. But until then, I won't have one of the damned things.
