1911

I have short fat hands and prefer flat main spring housings, and long triggers.
Do Not like the flat triggers that they have on some 1911's.
I've never done a count , but figure you will see more flat housing and long triggers at most competition.

I Do Not like 3 dot sights. Most of my shooting is local steel plates matches. Lining up 3 white dots
with a 4th white dot doesn't work for me.
Black on black sights when my eyes were good. Fiber optics front sight with black rear now.

Beavertail grip safety is a Must.

I would echo your thoughts on sights. I used to just change out the rear sights on my 3 dot guns with black. Then as I rounded 50, fiber optic front sights went onto many of my pistols. As I get close to 60, FO is almost a must have and on the majority of my 1911's.. In fact, I just added a 5" (9mm) Sig TacOps to my 1911 collection. The gun is a beauty but sadly, the factory night sights will have to go as they are especially obscure in daylight shooting. Seems a waste but I got such a deal on the gun, I couldn't pass. I'll be giving Damon Precision a call soon.

Patience

Bought this one new (old stock) last year for $750 (with shipping and transfers about $810). It is a Colt Combat Commander XSE. It’s not full size but I prefer the smaller format. Absolutely love the gun.

The key is patience and persistence. Keep searching diligently and the gun you need will eventually show up for the right price.

If the 3 dot sights were on and I liked them. Or if it was on a firearm that replacement sights were not ready available.
I would just degrease the sights and / or clean them out with a hand held drill bit.
Then with a toothpick put a big drop on flat black paint in the rear dots.
On the front , with white as a base ,, a drop of red or high vis yellow in the front dot..

If fiber optics are ready available I'd go that route.

( edit: Sig 1911 TACO :D ,,, very nice looking firearm,, I actually haven't shot one ,, but have heard several good stories about the Sig 1911.)

I pulled the trigger, both literally and figuratively. Went into the LGS, the same SA RO ss was in the case after about three weeks. I asked to take a look at it, asked what came with it. When the counter clerk pulled out the box and it had everything from factory plus an additional 4 mags, I tried to hide my excitement. Only thing I could find wrong is a partial idiot scratch. As the side of the frame is polished, if it really gets to me, I'll see about removing it.

All in all I'm pretty stoked to pick it up once I come off delay. Of course pictures will be provided!

The RIA Tactical II is a great value. All this 1 had done to it is a stock change. This is a .40 S&W.
Have a 9mm Tactical (RIA), Sig, 1911, and a S&W 1911. (both 45 ACP)
All function "GREAT". Bob

Good job! You can even easily clean up that idiot scratch later. One of the positives of having a stainless steel 1911. :)
First, shoot and get familiar with it. Enjoy!
