My son and I, for complicated reasons, couldn't access our own guns, so we rented a SW1911PD today at On Target Range in Severn, Maryland. This is a very nice range I've been using for many years.

Anyway, the 1911PD is simply an outstanding gun. Both my son and I were shooting nice groups out to 25'. Slightly to the left which could have easily been corrected. We did have a few failures to feed with one of the mags which was somewhat beat up. No problems with the other mag at all.
The Novak type sights are great and the gun is very controllable. Especially nice was the crisp trigger, which is pretty remarkable for a range gun.

This is a terrificc handling and shooting piece, and now that I've had a chance to try one, I'll probably add one to my collection.

Buy one while you still can; I recommend the #108283 for a nice carry piece. I hear MD is not getting any better.

I own one.....It is a beast. I will keep this piece forever. Tight groups with no mishaps....and its not even been shot over 300 times. I will get it broke in someday.

I am happy with mine, too.

It came with a poorly fitted barrel (6" groups at 25 yards), I had an Ed Brown barrel installed (2" groups at 25 yards).

I failed to note that we ran through 250 rounds in that session. 200 rounds Win. white box 230 gr. and 50 rds. Rem-UMC, 185gr. The Rem is a bit more consistent and accurate. But both went bang every time and hit pretty close to POA when we were doing our part.
