I have a 1917 without the original stocks. The gun is probably 95% without the stocks. I do have a swivel lanyard and I have shot it several times with Pachmayr grips. I would like to have some opinions concerning what type of stocks to put one the gun. The gun sits locked up most of the time. A friend suggested some faux bone grips. Thanks for your time.

I have a 1917 with non-standard grips too. The gun was refinished in nickel, so the collector value isn;t going to be there. My son loves it so I went to www.gungrips.net and got in touch with Conrad, the owner. I selected some Ivory grips and he engraved them with my initials, the Army seal on one stock and my regimental crest on the other, for $114 delivered. Great place to do business with he did the regimental crest just for my gun and called me several times to make sure everything was the way I wanted it. My son will love be given the gun someday with the one of a kind grips.

If it is truly a 95% 1917, then you should find a set of original smooth walnut stocks

I second the original-pattern stocks and maybe a grip adapter is they don't suit you.
