Mr. Rush, Nice display. Is that holster an A.H.Hardy, made by Cap Hardy in Beverly Hills, CA.? Hardy & Heiser holster appear similar, but Heisers have the Heiser name on the snaps. I thought 1948 was a very good year, WW2 was history and S&W mas making guns for civilians again, and I was in my 1st year at San Diego State College, having a Freshman year Ball, when the Draft, which was still on, was getting close to my number, so I joined the Calif. Nat'L Guard, 40th Inf. Div. at Fort Rosecrans, to stay out of the Draft, and stay in College. Two yrs. later Pres. Truman sent the 40th to Korea, so I had a couple yrs. hiatus, on Uncle Sam, before I got back to finish college. Stanley Andrews Sporting Goods store on 7th & B Sts., San Diego, was THE store to buy S&Ws in 1948. Ed.

Yep, a fine year if your Winchester Model 63 rifle and Smith & Wesson K-22 revolver are any indication.

Thanks to all for sharing my admiration for 1948. GLL your k-22 is a worthy sibling - with nicer grips I would say.

Ed, the holster is by Idaho Leather Co. - I wish it were an A. H. Hardy. I remember Stanley Andrews well at their old digs on 7th, before they moved farther north in the '60's. By the way, is there any gun store owner of note in So. CA over the past 60 years who you didn't know and deal with?

1948 was an outstanding year. Here are two more fine 1948 models. Both still function like the well oiled machines they are.
