1950 Military 44 value

Here's a post-WW2 long action .44 HE:

Most were 5". The 4" is somewhat rarer. The 6-1/2" is VERY rare.

Here is a look at my long action post-WW2 transition .44HE Military with its 6-1/2" barrel:

I am posting a separate thread of this revolver with additional photos. Have a look here: http://smith-wessonforum.com/s-w-hand-ejectors-1896-1961/678240-mod-1926-44-he-military-post-ww2-transition-6-1-2-a.html#post141473659

Nice gun, but I am talking about the 1950 Model (44-4th) in my quoted text above, and you are showing a Mod 1926 (44-3rd). I was talking about apples, and you are showing an orange. :D

The 6-1/2" Mod 1926 Mil is the rarest barrel length for that model also, but it is not what I was talking about.

I have two blue 4" 1950 Model .44 Militarys in matching numbered gold 1926 boxes with glued-on tags, both lettered shipped Q1 1955. S142499 acquired in 2010 from a forum member (thread linky: http://smith-wessonforum.com/s-w-ha...pecial-whats-worth.html?144054=#post135544731) and S142950 acquired in 2013 from a private collection in PA. Haven't guessed at a price lately. My observation is that the value of the 4th model militarys rise and fall depending on the eye of the beholder and forum chatter. I've bought and sold 5" models in the $2500+ range as recently as 2017, but 4" examples bring a hefty premium, especially if in excellent condition and all the goodies match. $5500 is out of my comfort range so I would admire it but not bite, even though the OP's example looks pretty sweet. Now, show me a 4th Model Military marked "MOD 21" and we'll talk. Photos: Left two are S142950, right two are S142499, last one is MOD 21 S192567 - photo by Lee.

I have a 5" Model of 1950 .44 Military. I guess since it has the most common barrel length it's not worth much? S 106009. Shipped in 1954. I paid $1800 last year.

Bought some old Herrett's Jordan Trooper stocks from Wiregrassguy and refinished them. Gonna take to the range soon and see how they feel.
