I just picked up this beautiful 1950 Target in .45 ACP. It shipped in June 1951 and came with the original box. It too is in great condition. Looks to be an early one of the 2,768 made. These are the grips that were on the gun when I bought it. Any ideas who made them?

As nice as the package is I thought I should show off the box too.

Not sure on the grip maker, but who ever it was did a very nice job. Almost looks like a cross between Sandersons and Ropers.
Excellent catch. Congradulations.

Cross between Sandersons and Ropers-those were my thoughts too. I sure hope someone else chimes in. Since the original stocks are missing do I leave these on the gun or find a nice set of Diamond Magna's and have the original look once again?

Bravastar ... The revolver and box are in such beautiful condition, I'd go "original" and find some accurate retro grips for it.

Not Sanderson or Roper. My guess would be griffin & Howe. But who cares the are stunning and well made.

Any more thoughts on who may have made these grips? I sure would like to know the answer.

That is truly spectacular. Congrats.

Since the original grips are numbered to the gun it may be impossible to find something that looks like it belonged there. It won't hurt to look. but prices on the originals are getting sky high.

My guess is Sanderson because his checkering was usually finer than Roper's

Nice gun Buddy. I am going to take a WAG and say the grips are an early set of Herretts...just something about them

Those grips are very nice. The checkering along with the diamond is just incredible.

I guess I will never know the actual maker of the grips on my 1950 Target. I decided to try to find a set of Magna stocks as close to 79075 as I can. They look great but I want this one to fit in the original box.

Jim,

those custom targets are just awesome! I hope you will attach them to another fine revolver....if they go on the market please let me know :)

Keith Brown Grips

Have Keith Brown make you a pair of service grips in exhibition grade walnut. A revolver that nice deserves the best.
