Sometimes I cannot help myself. I turn 80 this year and keep telling my wife that I will try to sell some things so she isn't left with them if I precede her. Then I see this advertised and couldn't resist: 1955 45 CAL TARGET MODEL. Serial s275xxx, so 1966-67 according to my 3rd Edition. Shows virtually no wear and amazingly clean. Guy said he had fired only 50 rounds after it was given to him. 6.5" Barrel and came with 3 extra sets of Target Stocks..

Lookin' good! There is something special about these .45 ACP revolvers. But here's what we really want to know. What did your wife say? Suggest you tell her you needed it to keep the ladies at bay. It was either that or grow a full length beard, her choice. :)

My wife would have laughed at me if I tried the first suggestion. I do like those heavy barrel 45 ACP's

While I like Triple locks a LOT, I like .45 Auto-rim as a cartridge and find it quite useful, I have a few 25-2s and 625s but I guess my most unique is a 5-screw "Pre-25-2" made in 1955, it is also a 5" but hit has been refinished (in black chrome) so the collectors value is likely nil - that's OK I'll never sell it.

The group in attached pic is fired with a 260 gr. Lee (cast by me) over 2400 powder at 25 yards - the bullets are loaded long to be able to get enough 2400 in to reach 1100 fps (it is not a really high pressure load but I feel no need to go higher). The gun is zeroed for 75 yards hits 2" high at 25.

I've been reloading Auto Rim since the 80s when I bought my 6" 25-2 for a whopping $317 with tax.

A "Pre Model 25-2" would be a Model 25-1. The dash numbers indicate engineering changes. In 1955, this revolver was named the 1955 Target Model. Your revolver can be referred to as a "Pre Model 25".

I had a 25-2 that I shot and really liked then I lucked into a 5 screw in a little country town gunshop. $400 out the door. Shot it a little then decided I didn't need two. I loaned the -2 to a friend and two weeks later when he brought it backed he said he was real impressed with the accuracy and would I consider selling It? Easiest gun sale I ever had. Plus he gave me $100 more than I paid for my 5 screw.
