This is a pre-model 29 I received last week. It was shipped on March 27, 1957 to Quebec, Canada.
The gun has a small spot of blueing rubbed on the left side of the frame just below the cylinder, it looks much worse in the photos than it really is.
I am happy with it as it is.

For the past several years whenever someone has posted a serial with a shipping date I put it on a list for future reference. I have S167913 on the list which means someone on this forum has the gun one digit ahead of yours. It shipped 4/5/57, BTW.

Very nice gun.

Saxon Pig, For your database--# S153950, 5 Screw, Shipped, 7/13/56 to Grand Prairie, Texas

Thank you to all for the comments.

Saxon Pig, thanks for the information. That shows the random shipping order the factory did as has been mentioned on this forum many times.

Very nice Jube, the bulk of 4" 5 screw guns shipped in 1957 with only less than a dozen that have actually been seen shipped in 1956.

This one shipped 9/56 and is the earliest known existing 5 screw 4"

A couple of my N frame revolvers have that small blemish in exactly the same place as yours on the left side. I asked about it and was told that there is a kind of holster that has a stiff retaining piece that rubs the gun finish there. The revolvers I have had a life somewhere else before I got them so I don't know the brand of holster. Could be one of those law enforcement safety lock holsters, Saferland Level three?? Anyway, was wondering about it. David

You have a great looking gun 29aholic. Thank you for posting it.

Have you ever used anything on your stocks to maintain them? Like an oil or something?
