1961 Model 27-1 4 Screw in 3.5"

Your absence was ...felt. How the heck is it going? I see your compulsion for fine firearms has not subsided.

I just have this old 27-1 5" Finish challenged but all original.

Would you consider trading your 3'5" 27-1 for that non model marked 4 screw Highway Patrolman?
Just a thought.

Maybe I can git an invite to the redneck shoot someday.

Regards ,,,Allen Frame.

Geez Allen, you've caught the Giz sickness and started photographing "on the rocks" now.:(
Nice guns guys.

WOW - Never seen a 3 1/2 "-1" before and now here's two in the same thread! Great info too!

Model 27-1

Sir, I read your report with great interest. Perhaps you can clear up a few details that I do not understand. I have a 6" S & W Model 27-1, S/N S2214##. It is marked on the yoke Mod 27-1, on the back of the cylinder it has a "L" stamped on it. I was confused on the definition of a real 27-1. Thank you in advance for any information you can provide.

Larry,
Your -1 is a true -1, meaning it has the left hand thread ejector rod. The "L" stamped on the cylinder indicates this. As giz explained, there were guns marked -1 that did not have the change to left hand threads done and so are erroneously marked.

Curtis,

Thanks for answering that one for me...:)

And to add further confusion to the mix....The 27-1 that I posted above has the traits of a 29-1...in that it is a RH ejector rod thread and there is no L stamped on the rear cylinder face. As in all things S&W...you'll just never know...;)
