Called S&W today to inquire about factory service replacement of firing pin that is riveted into hammer nose. They stated don't have the part and cannot service. What?? There must be millions of K frames with this type firing pin.

Midway did not stock part. Numrich did have it, but currently out of stock. Any suggestions?

Jack First, Popperts Gun Parts, Brownells. Brownells has after-market hammer noses from Power Custom if nothing else! Use your "Google-Fu".

Checked Brownells (which I should have initially), but they do not list hammer nose mounted firing pins either. Popperts listed complete K-frame hammers but not the firing pins. Rather replace just the pin, not go with entire new hammer.

Welcome to the new Smith & Wesson.

There was a time when their support of their product was second to none.

Good news. Power Custom (GrandMasters LLC) makes and sells new hammer nose firing pins for S&W K, L & N frames. They can be purchased directly from GrandMasters LLC or from Brownells.

My prior search on Brownells missed them but they are listed under Power Custom - Hammer Nose Kits for S&W. As pictured on Brownells it includes the cross rivet and tension spring. Better quality than original per description.

I used that exact kit from Power Custom to correct a "short" hammer nose on a 1971 vintage 19-3. I can recommend this kit highly, not only was it exactly as described on the Brownell's web page Power Custom provide excellent instructions with diagrams on how to properly fit the new hammer nose to the revolver. Note, in my case the only fitting required was to shorten the projection through the firing pin bushing by about 0.01 inch.

Per the description these do feature an extended length and after the first test run I felt the dimples in the fired case resembled a meteor strike just a bit too much. I am also happy to report that a revolver that had a 30% misfire rate with CCI 500 primers and a 60% misfire rate with CCI 550 primers in double action with the mainspring shimmed to a 11.0 lbs DA trigger pull went to perfect reliability with both primers with the mainspring returned to it's factory original 8.5 lbs. DA trigger pull.

Up until about 2-3 years ago Midway USA had noses and rivets available. The rivets went first then the noses.

When I saw that I went on eBay and bought a couple of used complete hammers in the 20-30 dollar range just to have spare noses. If you are careful you can reuse the old rivets.

EDIT: Hard to beat this deal I just found on eBay (I had to buy one myself!!):

Just wanted to add that I got the hammer I ordered from eBay. Very nice!! Heck of a deal for $14 shipped! Super fast shipping to! (BTW I am not related in any way to the seller, just wanted to share a good deal on nice K Frame hammers)
