I have a 22-A that has lived in my safe for most of it's life. Bought new and 300 rounds through it. The local IDPA group was having a rimfire shoot and I figured it would give me a chance to take it out and have some fun. My practice shoot lasted 3 magazines. When it stopped feeding I pulled the barrel and there in all it's glory was a totally fractured frame from the top through to the top of trigger guard. The owner of the range contacted S&W service and was told to send it in and they would look at it to determine if it had been broken by abuse. It wasn't so no the question is what will they do to honor their lifetime warranty? It has been discontinued for some time and I doubt they have a pile of unused frames sitting there. Has anyone dealt with issue recently?

Welcome to the Forum,
Seems like cracked frames are a know issue with the 22A. I can't say what S&W will do but you may end up with a new Victory.

Since mine cracked I did a little research and discovered that my problem seems to be too common. A new Victory would be nice to prevent a re-occurance a couple hundred rounds from now. With a discontinued pistol I hope the coverage will be a new pistol. My fear is they will offer me a "discount".

A fellow shooter at my local range was given a .22 Compact as a replacement when the same thing happened to him (before the Victory came out). Pity was that he had all customized 22As, and did not want a Compact.

Just be sure that you write up the circumstances in detail to include in print with the pistol. Sometimes what you discuss on the phone isn't seen by the gunsmith, but he does get the letter included with the gun.

I would not be thrilled with a .22 compact. Mine is a target style and I would hope I would be offered another target pistol. The pistol was already returned by the range I shoot at so I hope the obvious fractures and lack of use/abuse will be enough to get me proper warranty support.

TL, welcome to the forum.
This is quite unfortunate. Please keep us up to date with the status of S&W's resolution to the problem. My opinion, for what it's worth, and based upon your presentation, is that more than a 'discount' would be in order.

I would be happy with the Victory. Doesn't seem to have the list of problems my 22A had.

22a1 Misfire and jams.

Just my little spot to maybe find a cure for a nice looking and very accurate .22 cal pistol. I have had this safe stored pistol for many years, tried using it for our clubs pistol shoot. Well all types of ammo and lots of suggestions from many club members. Factory has had this pistol almost as much as I have or at least it feels that way. Actuall they have had it four times being returned for they same thing, "jamming and missfires", each return they instructed me to clean behind the trigger. It jams and misfires continually, so much that it probably only has 1000 rds through it. I have even had my three sons try it and they too have said its a great "anchor".

So here is a factory serviced 4 time jammer, misfeeder. I'm now 67 and still looking for a cure for this straight shooter ... when it decides to shoot.
