The Result - the Ruger won in a landslide, 80% of the votes.

My result - I was poking around in a little used gun cabinet of mine and pulled out a long forgotten Marlin Model 60, with 4x scope, that I used a long time ago for turkey hunting (only TX and NM allow .22 rifles for turkey hunting). I laughed - if I haven't shot this semi-auto .22 in 20 years, why do I need another one?

So I didn't buy one at all!

I wish I still had the Model 60 I used to have years ago..
I have a 10/22 now, and to tell the truth, I've never been too
crazy about it. But mine seems to have a flaky barrel..
The Model 60 I used to have was a tack driver right out of the box,
and didn't vary hot or cold.
The 10/22 I have now... the danged thing is all over the place depending
on temp. And it's out of whack even using the open sights.
With a scope, I'll get it warmed up, and eventually dialed in fairly OK..
Come back the next day with it cold, and it's all over the map, and I
have to start all over again. It has the P/C trigger group parts, nylon
buffer, etc, etc.. Great trigger.. But a pathetic stock Ruger barrel.. :(
If I had to do it again, it would not be a 10/22.. I'd probably cough up
some extra for a CZ or sumtin..
The old Model 60 I had was much better than the 10/22 I have now,
which is a 2000 stainless carbine with no plastic parts like the new ones.

Sir, I'm glad you didn't purchase according to the poll. I am often a contrarian and this is no different. I'm no fan of the 10-22 (early ones werent too bad). The only reason to buy one today is to feed a lot of money to the after market.

ammo selection is so sporadic at this time and with the pickiness of some of the autoloaders, I would defiantly go with a bolt gun they will shoot it all like a smith revolver, don't try shooting the low velocity stuff in a autoloader and that is about the only ammo that can be found right now, around here

I have a CZ 455 in .22WMR, about the most accurate rifle i ever owned inside 75 yards.

I just got one of these a few days ago. It's not a choice in the poll but good for comparison.

Some cons:
1. You probably won't want to ruin the barrel by attaching a suppressor.
2. Not inexpensive, and there are even more costly "space gun" variants available. Same barrel & action but with fancy aluminum stocks.
3. Much heavier than the choices in the poll.
4. Single-shot, not good for keeping hordes of zombies away.

Pro:
Extremely accurate: my 10-shot test target has a maximum spread of 12 mm measured edge-to-edge (about 0.47 inches edge-to-edge) at 50 meters.

The biggest benefit of all: no more ammo shortage even for anyone who has zero stockpile of .22 LR ammo. This opens up a new world where you can buy cases (tens of thousands of rounds) of .22 LR, e.g., of Eley Tenex EPS, about $20 for a box of 50. :)

That's good news and I have been hearing that - although my .22 LR stockpile is huge because back a few years ago I bought a brick every time I walked into any gun store. When I stopped doing that I had PLENTY!

Interesting question but I'll start a new thread for it.....

You probably won't want to ruin the barrel by attaching a suppressor.

New thread coming up!

Let's see here !
1)Winchester 2)Browning 3)Marlin 4) Remmington--with a big ol Leupold scope (I just couldn't resist).
The red thang in the Marlin was a bet--kinda--It was a pawn shop find, so cheeeeep I had cash in my pocket enough for it --it took some cleaning and the red paint was just crying to go on it.
Blessings

PS---I am just a child. There aint no funner gun to shoot than a .22 rifle.

I pulled the short straw. I have the CZ 452 in .22 WMR and it is without doubt the most inaccurate rifle I have ever owned.

I'm not up to speed on all this new stuff. I have a Winchester 62A that my Grandad's brother gave me when I was in High School. Years later I won a Browning BL-22 that I put a scope on that's prooved to be a real gopher getter. Last year I bought a 617 10 shot and that rounds out my family of 22's.

I love the 62A for it's form, fit and function (takedown no less) and the Browning for quality of build and fun to shoot. The jury's still out on the 617 but with a wink, I'll tell you it's a sweetheart!
