The weather here is SW Va. has moderated, rain has stopped and the sun was out and pushing 60 degrees yesterday so I decided to go to the National Forest range. Only the second time since Covid. Only took .22s to conserve my centerfire ammo as I have more .22 rounds than all others. Took some guns I haven' shot in awhile - M&P 15-22, Marlin Model 60 and a Ruger SR22 pistol (took my S&W 63 but didn't shoot it).
I took some .22 ammo that I had opened. Remington Golden Bullets, Winchester Super X, CCI Mini Mags and CCI Singers. Was shooting 50 yards. Both rifles are scoped.
The Ruger SR22 pistol as usual shot the Super X and Mini Mags flawlessly. A very reliable and fun pistol.
The Marlin Model 60 is accurate as always but failed to feed the Golden Bullets at least three times. Inspecting the FTF bullets, one bullet was so loose in case that it was bent, two others had the lead scraped off the side as if the bullet was over sized. Switched to Mini Mags and flawless operation.
M&P 15-22 as usual shot the Mini-Mags, Super X and Stingers without a problem. At fifty yards the Stingers (1640 FPS) were the most accurate.
I don't normally buy the Golden Bullets but had found some in the 100 round plastic box about 6 months ago and decided to give them a try. Would not get them again.
Fun day. (By the way the range was empty, only had one other guy show up and it was picked clean of all brass.)
