.223 platforms

I have the same genteel bent that you do. My first rifle in about 30 years was a Howa Mini .223 that I bought from Cabelas on a closeout for around two fiddy. How they can sell a new rifle that cheap is beyond me. I then bought another Howa 1500 HB (.223 again) and put a B&C benchrest stock on it. That one satisfied my urge to shoot tiny little quarter sized groups at 100 yds.

Never owned an AR but I do have a Ruger Mini with a red dot on it. That one was bought for the insurgency that's trending and runs to my satisfaction.

Personally I've never wanted anything but a .223/5.56. I don't hunt anymore so I don't need a big boom stick. If I can hit a softball at 200 yds that's all I'll ever want or need. I have thousands of pieces of .223/5.56 range brass that I can load if I need to. There really isn't a better rifle cartridge for utility and economy.

I don't have any #1's to sell but if I did you would be the first guy in line. Sometimes just mentioning something like that on a forum will reap rewards. It's happened to me.
