22a or a Walther P22??

I have a 22a and have never really warmed up to the grip. The gun has been flawless, out of the box never a ftf. Saw a P22 at the gun show and I liked the compactness of it, seemed like a fun gun versus a target pistol like the 22a. Should I sell the 22a and get a P22. Opinion are apreciated.

I picked up a p22 a couple months back and have put maybe 200/250 rounds through it (cci mini mag - havent tried any different ammo) w/ 0 issues. Ive cleaned it once in 4 trips... Mine is very accurate as well. With the bad rap they get, I have nothing bad to say besides they come w/ 1 mag now.

I like my p22 so far. 300 rounds or so now. Seems they have worked out most of the issues they had before. It seems to bet getting better the more I shoot it. Not the most accurate I have ever shot but I think my big hands and a tiny gun just don't work well together. With all that said I don't think I would trade a 22a for it. Really it's all about do you want a plinker or a target pistol? P22=great plinker 22a=paper puncher

I owned a 22A for about a week. I think S&W made a mistake when they dropped the 422/622/2206 series for the 22A. But that's just me.

My father-in-law has a Walther P22 with about 1000 rounds through it, at least 250 of them I am responsible for. No real issues to speak of as long as we don't use super-low-bid cheap ammo.

I shoot any .22, even my favorite one enough to get bored with it. I regret selling some very good .22s. After firing them a lot I started looking at something different. I have learned to rotate .22s to the back of the line and shoot another .22 for awhile. When I finally pull them back out after a few months or even years it’s just like having a new gun. In the long run this is less expensive than selling and buying different .22s at ever escalating prices.

S&W’s 22A is the bargain of the year and you will have to sell it for less than they go on sale for, so keeping it really isn’t going to make a big difference in your budget. So many 22As are being sold that it is only a matter of time before a new entrepreneur or one of the old stock companies offers different shaped grips for them. I suspect you will enjoy having both your 22A and a pocket size .22. I can’t comment on the Walther from experience. It is too modern for my taste. There are a great variety of metal frame single action pocket size .22s to choose from in used guns and many of them will have better trigger pulls than the Walther. I’d buy a metal framed one, but if the Walther turns you on, you don’t need a rational justification for choosing it.

I've had my Walther P22 since April, and have had a lot of fun with it, and no problems. Like many others, I started her out on CCI Mini Mags.
It is a 'fun' gun, not a target pistol. Adjustable backstraps are good for
when my wife shoots it. I agree that it should come with 2 mags, however.
