Has anyone ever had any problems with their Model 22A? Right out of the box mine had FTF, FTE and misfire problems regardless of ammunition brand used. After about 600 rds, the alloy hook on the frame that the plasitc recoil bumper sits against sheared off. I've never seen a gun self-destruct before. Has anyone had any simular problems or am I just lucky?

Welcome! Judging from my 22S and the comments on this board, you must be the "chosen one". Most people report them being relatively problem-free and fun to shoot. On the positive side, S&W has the best service in the business and you might want to give them a call. If you call, you may take any tack you wish, but may I suggest a little patience, courtesy and respect for their experience will go a long way to helping you get an good gun. Even though they may well "owe you" being respectful may allow them to help you as much and as soon as they can. My two cents.

Ive had mine now for 5 months, first out of the box gun jamed on empty cases anf had numerus fail to fires. tok gun down to clean and the takedown button stuck in and wouldnt pop back out.Gun went back to S&W turn around1 week. gun works slick like its a another gun.

I have many S&W's and this is the one I am selling. First time I sent it back was cause of excessive leading in a circle that caused the bullets to stretch and keyhole. This would occur in less than 100 rounds. S&W replaced the barrel the first time. Took it to the range as soon as I got it back and it would not eject and I removed the magazine dropped the slide and the gun fired even though it has a disconnect. That was it packed it up and sent it back again now they say they replaced springs and cleaned it. Do not trust the gun and had enough. While waiting for it to return the second time I bought a Ruger Mark III Talo. Now this is a 22 to die for. Accurate and problem free.

PS I still like Smith's I asked my dealer to locate a Model 60 Pro.

I just got one for Christmas. I shot it once for about 100 flawless rounds. S&W cust service will make things right.

First time I took mine out, I had several FTF using Remington (Walmart) shells. The next 50 rounds were with Winchester Wildcat ammo and never missed a beat.

I ended up polishing the feed ramp on mine. She likes to eat CCI mini mags without missing a beat. I've had falure to feed & fire with Federal Champions bulk ammo. Not so much after polishing. The Remington Subsonic hp's seem to work OK. Also, after loading your mag, slap it on the heel of our hand a few times.
