Went to my local Wal-Mart yesterday and as always, I walked past the sporting goods section. Lo and behold, there were Remington Thunderbolt .22 LRs in stock. I haven't seen any ammo at Wal-Mart since early last year. Of course, I bought a box of 500 rounds.

The price? $29.99. Oh well, that's cheaper than what I've seen lately.

Still nothing at Walmart near me. Last summer I grabbed up CCi 22 magnum for $10.50 and the 100 count was $20 or a bit more. Glad I have some at least for now.

Closest wally world has HAD 7.62x51 Federal ball on the shelf for over a month, $21+ per box/ 20 rnds. They do get various mfg .22’s in every few weeks, $8.+ / 100 rnds and have trap and skeet 100 rnds boxes on shelf for $24+ as of yesterday.

The local WMT had a few $24. boxes of 100 rds 12ga skeet, game loads too, #8 shot. And couple of boxes of .410 also I think in #9 shot. I didn't see any .22

Muley, I got some Remington ammo at a Scheels this past Saturday. I too was pleasantly surprised to see green boxes of ammo sitting on the shelf.

The little things that make gun guys happy!!!!

I was in Walmart a couple days ago and they had about a dozen boxes of Federal, 40gr, 325 per box, for $17.99. I had them open the cabinet to check - they were uncoated lead, so I passed. Had they been coated bullets, I would have bought them all. I have found the coated or plated bullets shoot much cleaner in my revolvers.

A month ago the guy in front of me got the last box of 22’s. The next time I got 2 boxes of 100 mini mags. The next trip they had some that morning but sold everything and last week when I was in I picked up 3 boxes of Federal match which was the last they had. Prices were a little over $3 a box of 50 for the match and the mini mags were $7 and change for 100.

It seems as though they’re getting more. Prices are about the same as before the pandemic. Over the past year I’ve been able to get a few boxes of 550 Federal or Winchester 333. They even have the big buckets of Remington from time to time.

What my local Walmart does is hide them behind the counter in a locked cabinet. If you go in and look you’ll never see them because they don’t put them out. You have to ask a clerk if you can find one.

We've got three Wal-Martian marts within thirty minutes of the house, and one surprises me with 22 ammo pretty often. Last month I managed to score three 100rnd packs of CCI mini-mags for $8.99 each.

Lead Heads

Our Walmart had 3 boxes of the Federal Auto 40gr Lead bullet
325ct on the shelf. Price was $17.99/box. Which is about 6 cent
per cartridge.

I’m glad some 22lr is showing up. I was surprised the 3 boxes
were still on the shelf.

For me its not the . 22s, its the shotgun shells. I buy those 100 round 4 packs for Sporting Clays, since 1. I cant reload them for much less and 2. Since I often shoot a semi, I don't want to lose my good hulls and these bulk packs are basically garbage hulls. All the local Walmart stores have been cleaned out for months, basically because the retired guys troll all day and buy everything the second it hits the shelves.

If that was federal Auto Match, you should have bought it. That stuff is a good compromise between target ammo and standard velocity bulk. It is good stuff.

Walmart is weird.

Went in a few weeks back on a Thursday evening, store was nearly
empty. Made a circle by the sporting goods and wonder of wonders,
this lonely fella was sitting alone.

Punched the button to call a clerk. As he retrieved the box,
I asked if the display price was correct. He said it was
and commented "these came in marked as 'clearance',
they're usually eighteen dollars."

It actually rang up for nine dollars, even. Maybe old stock
from bowels of a Walmart warehouse, to be disposed before
new Remington stock hits the shelves?

Yes, I did ask if there were any more.:D

I got some Stingers and 22 mag at WM about a month ago. They also had 2 boxes of 308 and one of 30-30.

The Wal*Mart closest to my shooting club? NO AMMO AT ALL TODAY! That’s the first time I’ve seen that.

One of our Walmartian marts had powder in the cabinet yesterday. There were five or six rifle powders and one each of Unique and Titegroup. I got the TG for $20.
