.22s at Wal-Mart!

This one boomer is always getting busted trying to go back multiple times to buy ammo. Funny thing is he makes it a point to tell everyone he’s just buying it to re-sell to the Amish.

If that was federal Auto Match, you should have bought it. That stuff is a good compromise between target ammo and standard velocity bulk. It is good stuff.

In a shorter barreled pistol, it's subsonic too. Not sure about my 6.88" Ruger Marks. It is in my 5.5" ones.

Wowsers...do they carry primers, bullets, etc too?
Never seen powder in a Wally World!

Yes, just one out of our three stores carries reloading components and equipment. Right now they are out of everything but a few die sets and rifle bullets.

LUCKY GUY

Went to my local Wal-Mart yesterday and as always, I walked past the sporting goods section. Lo and behold, there were Remington Thunderbolt .22 LRs in stock. I haven't seen any ammo at Wal-Mart since early last year. Of course, I bought a box of 500 rounds.

The price? $29.99. Oh well, that's cheaper than what I've seen lately.

I would have been doing cartwheels in the isle if I saw 22 on the shelf around me. It has been dry for as long as I can remember.

I can't... no matter how cheap it might be... after I bought a car battery at MallWart that failed in under a month but got endless runaround on the warranty, I swore I'd never go back.

What type of battery was it? I got one of those EverStart Maxx with the 3+2 year warranty. After 7 yaers, my oem wasn't holding charge very well 4 years ago, so I bought it before winter started. The walmart battery is still working ok for me. One time some discharge built up green/blue goo on the terminals and gave me a scare.

AFAIK, the Wally World batteries are Johnson Control. Been
putting em in two boats (two batteries in each), and two
vehicles, for last twenty years. Have held up fine for most part.
One or two failed during warranty periods; went in with receipt
and exchange was fast and hassle-free.

As I posted - there they were - CCI Mini Mags just sitting there.
When I finally got a clerk to come over, bought 2 Boxes, $16.87 out that door.
These are the Varmint variety.
Very appropriate for me, as they apparently don’t make a Dirty Varmint.

That's almost fairly priced NATO

Closest wally world has HAD 7.62x51 Federal ball on the shelf for over a month, $21+ per box/ 20 rnds. They do get various mfg .22’s in every few weeks, $8.+ / 100 rnds and have trap and skeet 100 rnds boxes on shelf for $24+ as of yesterday.

$1.05/round for 7.62 NATO is pretty good these days. I shop for 303 British and 7.62 and I am starting to see the high priced ammo on GB going unsold. The $3/round used to sell now doesn't. I'll admit I paid $1.90 for some 303 when I tapped out. I am also seeing primers coming back on the market at Sportsman Outdoors Super store. You have to be quick - they sell out in about a couple of hours. Also, they are expensive, even at retail - about 3x what we used to pay 18 months ago. But at least they are passing through the shelves. I am going to swing by my local Walmart! Thanks for the heads up. GC

I was in WM this morning about 9 am, they had 3 boxes of Win .22s in the 333 boxs for 18.00 and change each. I bought 2 boxes and the young guy in front of me bought 1. I like the Federal Auto Match better, but the Mk II will probably shoot these ok. I was in shock.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

Nothing except a couple of boxes of .350 Legend at one WM near me, and 2 boxes of 12 ga bird shot at the other. And that's more than I've seen in a good long time!

I picked up a box of CCI A17 17 HMR (200rds)and my wife got 1,000 Win M22 on last trip to wally world. I was there to buy a parks pass and saw the ammo on the cart. Dude was just loading it into the case. Nabbed, $80'ish for 1,200 rounds.

I stopped at the WM ammo counter yesterday and asked the clerk if there was any .22lr. He laughed at me.
:D Santa Claus of happiness, delivering a jolly moment to the Walmart employees of the Earth.

I only saw 22lr one time at Walmart. It was CCI Quiet, subsonic. Wasn't sure if it would cycle my M&P 22c, so I left it alone. Sometimes I see a random box of shells or rifle ammo, but I only have pistols.

I have a brick of that Quiet. It will not cycle in a semi auto. Volquartsen does make a bolt for the 10/22 that will cycle the Quiet ammo, but it must only be used with the Quiet ammo so unless you’re going to exclusively shoot it, it’s kind of a waste. I use the Quiet in case I have to dispatch a pest but I just manually work the bolt.

I've got the CCI Quiet, and it cycles my bone-stock 10-22.

Only rounds I've found that won't cycle are .22 short
(multiple brands) and Aguila Super Colibri.

I opened a box of Auto Match from my stash the other day. I had written a date in 2015 when it was purchased @W*M. I got 3 misfires in my old faithful K22. I removed them from their chambers, turned slightly and reinserted, and they all went off normally. While the gun was a little dirty, this came as an unpleasant surprise. A couple of times in the past I have pulled down rounds that didn’t go off and discovered gaps in the ring of priming compound that corresponded to the unsuccessful strike. Now I need to determine whether I am just dealing with a dirty gun (hopefully) or have hoarded a batch of substandard ammo. :(

A couple weeks ago I scored big at a WA Walmart. 3 x 100 ct Winchester 20 ga ($23.00), 3 x 100 CCI Stingers ($9.99) and 3 x 50 CCI .22 mag ($11.99).

Stopped off at Walmart today to pick up some batteries, walked by the ammo cabinet and they had some CCI, walked away with 6 boxes. I suspect that they were trying to hide them, as they had them on the top shelf pushed all the way to the back. so unless you were tall enough you couldn't see them. The counter girl couldn't even reach them. I had to pull them out for her.
