I recently bought a model 18-4 chambered for .22wmr and stamped as such on the barrel. I can find no information on this gun. Any help will be appreciated.

The Model 18's, aka the K-22 Combat Masterpiece is chambered in .22 Long Rifle. Model 48's were the .22 rimfire magnum equivalents.

Look close and make sure the frame isn't actually stamped MOD 48-4. Use a magnifying glass and a flashlight.

It's possible that the frame was mismarked at the factory, it does happen from time to time. Does the gun chamber .22 rimfire magnums?

It's also possible that the barrel was changed. If the original barrel was damaged and the owner couldn't find a L.R. barrel, he may have had a WMR barrel installed.

Could be and if he only changed the barrel and not the cylinder too, you could only fire .22LR in it and it would have lousy accuracy.
You need to find out exactly what you have.

Chambers .22Mags. Definately marked 18-4. Barrel is stamped 22MRF Serial number is 84k1619. It's got me stumped. I also have an 18-3 chambered as it should be.

Nothing to be stumped about. You obviously have a mi-stamped 48-4, happens a lot so they bring no premium.
BTW, your 48 was shipped in 1980 per the S/N.
You didn't mention barrel length, what is it?

4 inch. On one hand I hoped it was something rare and on the other being more common I won't mind keeping and shooting it. The gun is about 95%. Paid $350. Thanks for the responses.

That's a great price on a 4" 48-4, it's probably worth closer to $550. Ammo's a bit pricy and they're loud, but they're fun. You won't lower the value of a 95% gun by shooting it.

I have one that's close to yours, 96K... and it's a hoot!

The model 48 is a great field gun for taking small game, and a great companion piece for rifles chambered in the same caliber. I've matched mine with a Winchester Model 9422 in .22 WMR. Both are terrific guns, and sadly, no longer made.
