Last year I acquired a 242Ti (seven shot L frame Centennial).

Then I posted a few months back that I had found another 242 for sale in a LGS.

Well, today I stopped by the LGS and the 242 was still there -- and I purchased it.

So now I have two S&W 242Ti's.

Do I really need two 242Ti's? That's a good question. But they are so rare I may never get another chance to acquire one.

This one is like new, but has been fired, and comes with the box and all the pamphlets.

Now I need to solve the holster problem so I can carry one of these.

Here is my original 242 with Ahrends grips.

I won't get the new one for 10 days.

Cost me $749. Hope I didn't overpay.

Dave ... Nice deal on a nice revolver. The only (possible) downside of the 242 is that it doesn't handle .357, but +Ps are quite effective. When I had a 242, it fit comfortably in various K/L snub holsters, though the humpback design precludes the use of a hammer thong or retention strap. Ray @ Lobo can fix you up with a beautiful custom rig.

A good investment on a unique, small run, pre-lock revolver. I don't think you over paid. Especially, since the condition is so fine and you got all the provenance. It's money in the bank.

It's funny, but in profile it looks more like a Bodyguard than a Centennial. I wonder why that is? Maybe S&W had ideas on a seven-shot L-frame Bodyguard that never came to market (or did it?).

You did well. There are three on GB right now. One is $850, one is $1250, and the other is $1000. The one for $1K has a front night sight.

What do these weigh?

It's a fun revolver, works fine with the HKS 587 speedloaders too, at least using the Spegel stocks. Chronos really close to 4" guns with a lot of loads.

It is considered a Centennial frame and was the first non J frame Centennial introduced by S&W.

Hey I thought you were looking for a 296Ti to go with your 1st 242! :D Nice to have a pair though and a pretty decent price for a complete one especially I assume for CA.

I asked the LGS guy to look for a 296Ti and call me if he ever found one.

He said he has only ever seen one of them.
