Hu guys,
I’ve read about the oversized throats on the 25-5.
Is this not the case on the 25-3?
I’m a mere beginner but I seem to be more accurate with my 25-2… maybe my favorite gun to shoot that I have.
Anyone compared the 25-3 and the 25-5?
Also… it’s a 6.5” in 45 Colt.. one more to get I guess.
Thanks

Depends on the timeframe of the 25-5s, in my limited experience those with SNs over 900,000 have .452, or close, throats. From a shooting perspective with jacketed bullets I don't see any difference in accuracy between mine with more open throats. If I were a better shooter perhaps I would notice more of a difference. I haven't shot my NIB 25-3 so can't comment on that question. Most of my 45 Colt use is with my Governor finishing wild hogs and even I can hit them from six feet.

my 25-5 is .451/.452 (XTPs are hard to push thru, and my cast bullets are snug too)

25-3 I had was .455/.456- any bullet I had dropped thru. It went to the range once, accuracy was mediocre. Just did not feel like getting oversized cast bullets just for that gun. Best part of that gun was the Jink's book.

I've never worried about it and never measured a throat diameter. I have owned many Model 25-5's and currently own a Model 25-3. They are so accurate - who cares?

Yes. I don’t really care since I’ll want a -3 anyway but I wondered.
I doubt I’ll ever get anywhere near good enough to know the difference, but I do seem to do better with my 25-2. Maybe coincidence but I did wonder.
As far as I’m aware, the -3 Is the only 6.5 in long colt That is not one of the new “classic” versions.

I have a Model 25-2. I bought it new in 1982 with two cylinders - it had a 45 Colt cylinder with it. I put the 45 Colt cylinder on it in 2010. It is crazy accurate so I have never taken it off since then.
