Trolling for some info on 25 ACP, I've discovered that it's a pretty devastating round. Apparently it has a 111 grain bullet traveling at 6,666 fps with a muzzle energy approaching 8,000 ft lbs!

Who knew??

Apparently it has a TARDIS case that's bigger on the inside than the outside because it appears to hold more than 30 grains of powder!

Probably ought to wear a glove when firing.

(My Disclaimer: The above captioned website's info is totally wrong and you should not attempt to assemble ammo based on this information. Its just funny.)

Google hornady extreme ammo. For a 25 it's pretty impressive

My friend, the former USAF pilot evasion trainer, liked the .25ACP because pistols for it were tiny small and could be hidden easily. He preferred the .25ACP over the .22 rimfires because they could be counted on to ALWAYS go bang. The .25ACP bullet(s) in the right place would cause a world of harm.

He preferred the Colt Vest Pocket or the Browning for dependability.

And 6,666 fps... I wonder if that was with a 1.5" or 2" barrel?

While not the preferred round for stopping 2 legged advisories, me must remember a Russian named Vasily Blokin. He was known as Stalin's executioner. He used a Walther model 2 in 25 ACP to personally kill over 10,000 "enemies" of the Soviet state. Setting a goal of killing 300 a day, he reduced the number to 250 because the hand fatigue from shooting so many times a day.

I knew two cops killed 23 hours apart, each with one round of .25 ACP to the chest. First was a SWAT guy, shot just over his vest. The other guy was new and was saving up to buy a vest.

The .25acp is meant to be used at bad breath distance. If it comes to it, stick the gun in the BGs face and pull the trigger several times.
I happen to be quite fond of mouse guns. For many years my PSP-25 has been my gun for the times when I can't carry a gun. ;)

There's a .22 and a .32 in this pic, but all the rest are .25acp.

Where does one find such ridiculous stuff?

I have a box of the Hornady XTP ammo. My only issue with it is that it is only 35gr, which at 900 fps gives 63ft-lbs muzzle energy. In addition to being light, the bullet is an HP so it isn't going to penetrate worth squat. It will hurt like hell, and probably cause a significant wound channel and corresponding heavy bleeding with a center mass shot, but it isn't going to get to the vitals.

I'd rather go with a 50gr round nose, which at 750 fps gives the same ME but better penetration. Since your best bet for self defense with a 25ACP is going to be firing at your assailant's head at close range, it seems to me that the heavier bullet would have a lot better chance of penetrating. If it were a flat-nosed with a sharp edge to the meplat it seems like that would be even better.

Don't believe everything you read on the interweb .

I'm no MIT graduate... but them numbers are telling lies .
