I recently picked up a 27-2 6" blued three T's with presentation case tools papers etc. First question is this gun is in great shape 97%+ I would say, should I shoot the heck out of it or find another one to be my shooter? Next question is will this handle +p ammo? When was it made?(ser# N637XXX) I ordered my book tonight but the curiosity is killing me! Last but not least I got it for $512 otd with presentation case origianol blue box, papers, tools, 6 boxes of S&W .357 ammo and a Bianchi (sp?) holster and belt... did I do all right? Sorry for the unorganized post and the bad spelling!
Thanks in advance!

Congratulations on your purchase. It's a steal at that price.

First, your Model 27-2 is built on the heaviest frame S&W made, until the X frame.

It will handle the hottest of .357 magnum loads. +P is mild as a .38 special load, compared to the hotter .357 magnum.

The manufacturing date is sometime in 1979.

In 47 states, and several U.S. territories, that much in goods at that price, constitutes theft. :D :D :D :D

All kidding aside, that's a great buy. Take it out and shoot it. That's why Messrs. Smith & Wesson designed them!!

It's a gun, not a Rembrandt painting. Shoot it or don't shoot it as you please.

Did you REALLY ask if 38 Special ammo was too hot for your N fame 357 Magnum?

And some folks wonder how I got so frustrated with this whole +P BS.

Sorry, I thought (without investigating first) that there was such a thing as 357 +p.
