I have the opportunity to trade for an excellent condition 27-4 4" with no box or papers. The seller is asking a trade value of $950, and I am offering a MKIII Hi-power plus $200. Does that sound like a fair deal?

Thanks in advance for any information and/or advice.

Sounds fair to me, but I'm hardly a model 27 (or Hi Power) expert.

To me, any 27 past the P&R models (27-2 and earlier) command a slightly lower price than the P&R 27s. And I would consider the $950 price to be a P&R price personally. I bought an unfired ANIB 27-5 off GB in January for $700 plus shipping and that particular run of pistols actually have a recessed cylinder, but no pinned barrel. So in my opinion, the seller is a bit overpriced for what he has.

My opinion?

Drop the 200 you have to give and do the trade straight, or pass.

Depending on WHY you want the 27, you may be better served to buy a 27-2 or older.

If just for shooting fun, then this gun would be fine, but his price is high.
