28-2 date?

Can anyone give me an idea of the manufacturer date on a 28-2 I traded for awhile back. It shows a lot of wear but the thing shoots like you would not believe with 158 grain JHP handloads over 5.5 grains of AA#5. The serial # is 802 space then 200969. In the first set of 3 digits the second number is worn on the top half of the number and could possible be a U but I think it is a half worn out 0. Thanks for your help.

LD - what is the serial number on the edge of the grip frame on the butt (under the grips)?
Will start with a "S" or an "N"

There will be a S or N in front of the serial number that is part of the serial number. If there's an S then it was made in 1960 and if it's an N it was made in 1974.

The number under the grip is N59092.

It was made 1970 to 1971 as they give a 4 year range based on that serial number N 1 to 100,000 covering 1969 to 1972.

Thanks, I appreciate your help. It sure shoots good with handloads. It likes 5.5 grains of AA#5 onder a 158 gr. JHP using 28 spl cases.
