The top and bottom surfaces have a soft sandblasted finish, far less abrasive as the one shown on the pictures above mine (this one has been refurbished I guess).

This is the factory beadblast blue on a 586.

Thanks. The gun you mentioned is mine - not sure which one you're suggesting might have been refinished - mine has not been.

I see the factory offers 3 choices for re-blue: High Bright Polish, Standard, and Bead Blast.

Ruled out the High Bright, I know the HP wasn't the "fancy" .357. Which of the other 2 choices would be the closest to how the gun came new? Anyone have any pics of the actual factory refinish choices?

Mine has bead blasting on the bottom flats and a rather dull blue that was correct for the 28-2.
