Took the 28 out to pop a few rounds into the ditch bank. What a shooter! .38 SPLs and +Ps were like shooting my wife .380, and the 147 gr .357 Hydrashoks, though a bit more spicy, were still manageable. Everything shot to point of aim with no adjustments. Man I like this gun. :D

I may have to try some different grips though. The .357s were a little uncomfortable with the Magnas, as the trigger guard smacked my middle knuckle pretty hard. Maybe the addition of a T-grip.

PS... I've also given some thought to a set of Jordan Troopers from Heretts.

Glad to hear it, but we knew how it was going to turn out anyway!

I too feel the magnas are too small for the N frame. The targets feel best to me. Have not tried the t-grips yet.

Note to self - keep looking for that HP to bring home.

I think a 4" Nframe looks and feels good with magna's and a Tyler T. I use to have a 29-2 setup like that and with midrange loads it was very manageable.

Do you have large hands? The Jordan Troopers are desined for those with huge mitts, like Bill Jordan had. Pachmyr sold a rubber copy as well.
I'm a big fan of Herrett's...put 'em on the favorites. I use a Roper style though.

Magnas and a T-grip fix any N-frame for my hand. Just a good match for my hand, with the bonus of being minimum-bulk for carry.

I am recoil sensitive but even I am not bothered by factory (pretty wimpy these days) 357s from an N frame. Now a 2.5" K frame with my 125@1600 FPS load gets a little obnoxious. But a 4" M28? Maybe you just need more experience rather than different grips.

BTW- IME aftermarket grips often raise the gun in the hand making felt recoil worse, not better.

I find Magnas with a Tyler T grip is very comfortable to hold and shoot. But the most comfortable stocks for me to shoot N frames are slightly worn down factory target stocks. I have a couple of pairs that are almost smooth and they feel perfect on my 27s/28s. They have plenty of bulk and there is just enough checkering to not be slippery when its hot at the range.

I haven't shot much with these just got the stocks and gun but they were comfortable

I added a set of Ahrends smooth front tacticals to mine and my next HP will get the same thing.

I don't train my hand to fit my grips, I buy grips that fit my hand.

The right grips will make that a pussycat to shoot. My middle finger grts smacked like that too, so i sympathize. Targets, or Goodyears will make it feel much better.

I've got plenty of experience, been shooting .357 since before many here were probably born.

I love the gun and the recoil isn't that bad, just saying it's knocking the middle finger around a bit. Unfortunately, one size doesn't always fit all, so finding what does is just part of life. We'll get through it because the 28 isn't going anywhere. :D

Can't beat rubber for the full house loads. Wood looks better, but you just can't get a good hold.

+1, especially for 357 magnum revolvers shooting full power loads.
There is a reason why you see so many factory target and magna grips for sale on Ebay. I love to look at them, and I have two pair of them wrapped in plastic and sitting in a shoebox in my basement. But I prefer to shoot with Hogue rubber grips.
Even with rubber grips, the web of your strong side hand can take a beating. Best to withdraw your thumb a bit from the grip, or use a padded shooting glove.

If I'm taking a pic of my guns, on goes the pretty wood grips. If I'm shooting, the goodyears get the nod the majority of the time. Well.....unless I'm shooting my 28-2 that has the Bear Hugs on it :D

Gunny, my recently purchased 28 6inch no dash came w/ Goodyears. I put N Magnas on it that I had. I had the finger problem. I currently have thumbrest target grips on it. They are ugly, but I shoot it well. Another set that I have are diamond targets. These are the best! I don't want to mess these up though! A new set of grips is coming to me. WE SHALL SEE! Bob

weatherby has the same set up as I have on my 28-2, smooth targets.

I use them on Mod 29's too (when I don't wimp out and put rubber figergrove Pacs on 'em!) :)
