i have a 28-3,the problem is it will jam up while fireing.it will cycle find with no ammo, and will cycle fine loaded, but when fireing it will jam in single and double action attemps.it will fire a few rounds before it does jam.i cleaned it up and don't think it is a problem like that.it does show horizontal marks on the cylinder where i believe it rubs somewhere.the revolver belongs to a friend,he would like to repair it but might sell it to me if there is a major problem.is it possible for the cylinder to warp?i do know he shoots 357 rounds thru it but don't know how hot the loads were.any info. or sugguestions would be greatly appreciated.thanks curt.

Hi:
Possible that the forward end of the trigger is not engaging the locking bolt every time to push the locking bolt down to allow the hand to turn the cylinder.
1. check the locking bolt spring
2. check the forward end of the trigger for engagement with the locking bolt.

jo - Is your friend shooting factory ammo or handloads ?? It is conceivable that he's loading his ammo too long. The slightest bit of boolit pull upon firing COULD be interfering with the cylinder turning. Just a guess, but he could just need a tighter crimp/shorter rounds. enjoy Mike

i will ask him,i don't know if he shoots factory or reloads but i know he shoots 357 rds. and not 38's out of it.thanks.

28-3

if the cylinder has rub marks on the face where it is rubbing the barrel you have endshake, easy to repair by getting cylinder bearings from brownell's
just take cylinder apart and put in one bearing to start or two if it needs it but one will usually do the trick.
if you were close by i would put them in for you ,but it is an easy fix and will last a long time.

the rub marks are on the outside high spots of the cylinder where they can be seen when closed so they really don't have contact with anything.when fully closed you can see a gap all the way around the cylinder,i really think these rub spots are from a problem with the revolver and not from laying it down and damaging it.thanks for the info.
