In some photos the 4" barrel looks like it is a two piece barrel while the 6 1/2" barrel looks like a one piece.
Is this the case?

??? I think we're missing parts of this conversation......

It is a discussion of the manufacturing makeup of the 29-10 Classic Barrel if there is a difference in the two barrel lengths?
Do have any knowledge to offer?

It's a one piece. The muzzle crown is a bit deceiving at first glance if you are strictly familiar with the older guns.

I have both the 4" and 6.5" versions of the 29-10. Both are one piece barrels and square butt frames. AFAIK the only "classics" model that varies from this pattern is the model 19 classic, which has a 2-piece barrel and round butt frame.

Frame mounted firing pin (and the dreaded lock). On N frames, the frame doesn't have the "humped" appearance the J/K/L frames do to accommodate the lock.

One of the main benefits of this series in my book is that all except the model 19 have square butts, so original target and magna grips can be used. The altamont grips that come on the classics are nice looking, but are too thin and have a hard edge around the backstrap that makes them suboptimal, at least for my hands.
