well i have heard a lot of talk about 44 magnums for hunting. didnt think much of it. found out why today. i didnt hit my target but at a measured 100 yrds with a rest, iron sights 2 ins. over top of beer can. it would have been dead center if lower. wont go into details sec shot missed more. this old man is happy. it shoots where it is pointed

How long is the barrel??? and did you sight the gun in for 100 yards??? If yo uhave a 6" barrel or more you can make 100 yard shots....I think the 4" barrel you would have to compensate a little.

barrel length 8 3/8. not bragging just surprised. have been that close with 45 acp but took a lot of shots. old man just aint that good.

so shoot what you are aiming at and adjust the sights a little. I would be willing to bet if you play with those sights a little you would be able to hit your target every time...

:) When hunting with a pistol I take the same shot
as a bow hunter. Reason being you are not shooting
a beer can or paper target. If you are shooting from
a rest in practice you want have that ideal rest in the woods.
I think It's more humane and more of a challenge to
shoot like a bow hunter. Don

jughead, are you using factory ammo or reloads?

american eagle 240 gr. jacketed hollow- points. only box i found in 4 stops. gun is new to me someone has worked the trigger. i dont know what else. didnt do anything to it just decided to try a long range shot or 2.

+1 to Hawkeye10. I have played around with revolvers at long ranges, but I would not take a shot at live game at extreme distances. I am not good enough to ensure a clean 1 shot kill.

have to agree with Hawkeye10 but it really doesnt apply to me i quit hunting over 50 years ago. only punch paper or cans. mite take a shot at a coyote but if i was hunting i have a rather fair choice of rifles.
