I stumbled across a 29-4 unfluted 5", yes it is the 1 of 500 Hill Country guns, they are asking $875 and I think I could get it done a little better than that. My question is what is the going rate for something like this? Gun is like new with the exception of a mild turn ring and has the box and papers to go with it. I plan on shooting it some if I do buy it. I have searched with little solid info on pricing. I think its a fair price ...what do you guys think? Or do I just want it to be a fair price so I have an excuse to bring it home.:o

Around here it would likely go for $800-$850 as you describe.

That price is about right, especially considering that is not a real commonly encountered version of the Mod 29. If I had the funds I would certainly grab it!

I have a 5" full-lug M629 that I changed the cylinder from standard to unfluted cylinder. Based on yesterday's gun show that price is not unreasonable. If it is a factory gun , I would pay that. If you get it, please post a picture.

It might be a touch high(my neck of the woods) but I'd grab it if I wanted it. You don't see many of those come up for sale in the lgs's.

That is a great price in my book,When they come up for sale on GB they sell for a ton.Last year one with some nice combats and a period correct(not numbers matching) box sold for $1,800.

I'd like to ask about your fluted to non-fluted exchange. Gunsmith done or did you send it to S&W?
