29 this year…. How bad does this “sickness” get???

This is my first post and a good place for me to start even though I am a year behind I am a man of few words, and I do more listening than speaking. I bought my first S&W magnum in 1994 a 629-4 classic 8 3/8th inch. I live in PA, and I have taken several whitetail deer with this revolver using open sites. I have researched the development of the magnum cartridge with D.B. Wesson, Elmer Keith, Bill Jordan, Phillip Sarpe, and Skeeter Shelton. Certainly, an eventful cast of men. Since, 1994, I have acquired several more K,L.N frame frame 357mag, 41mag, and 44mag revolvers. In 2023, I got a C&R FFL03, and started collecting K22s and all N frame Magnums, pre model through -2s. As for the original post...... How bad does the sickness get?.... for me, all barrel lengths and 3Ts if made.... pretty bad!

29 revolvers since January? I wish I could say that, I got 2 this year so far and thought I'd went over board. Don't discount the 3 inch guns especially in 357, very handy all around guns. I love my 3 inch magnums! A 3 inch 13 or 65 is at the top of my want list.

If you'd like to donate some of those to the "broke people need guns too" fund I'd be happy to take one or two off your hands haha! 🤣

This was last year’s post it was 29 in 2024…

Wow, after reading through this post, I thought I was bad buying 6 S&W revolvers and 2 S&W autos the past 6 months.

LOL! You must be a single guy because long before I purchased 29 handguns in one year my wife would have knocked me senseless! You have definitely caught the S&W virus, aka SMOVID-29. The only cure is...aging. I recently turned 70 and am realizing that I don't really need to add any more vintage revolvers to my collection, and that soon I may have to start thinning the herd. I'm at the point where if I do buy another gun, I will trade or sell one that I have. I've enjoyed the hunt, and I've enjoyed admiring and shooting my guns, but I've definitely slowed down. You've already done a fine job of finding and acquiring a nice collection of S&W revolvers, so continue to enjoy your search and keep us posted as your collection grows.
I'm pushing 75 and feel the same as you. I used to enjoy shooting full-power .44 Magnum through my 629 and 29. No more. Pain is not fun and I do not feel I have to prove anything to myself or others. .22 LR has become VERY enjoyable!

I know I have it bad right now but I’m just happy to read that there are folks worse than me.
Wrong choice of adjectives, sir!..."Bad" and "worse" are not properly descriptive of any activity which brings you enjoyment...And even being addictive as our activities certainly are, as long as we are in control, and not controlled, there is no problem...As for myself, I've used my Smithalyzer to keep track of my numbers since 2020 when I kickstarted my habit again...I just checked this morning's numbers and find my highest yearly number was 133 in 2021, and the lowest number of acquisitions was 37 in 2023...So far this year the count is 16...Take note that these numbers do not reflect dispositions...

As long as you're not denying the necessities of life to those who depend on you, you should have no worries......Ben

That’s a heck of a collection!!
It is a journey!

I bought two S&W's last week and am looking for another one right now. Eight in the last 3 months. My objective is to get the guns I want before I semi-retire. Then I will just need to buy ammo & minnows!
