Did a little trading this week and ended up with a 2nd model 44 target. It is probably in 70% condition finish wise with a fine bore and perfect timing. Front sight blade is looks like a Kings with a white square insert but has been narrowed with a file slightly which removed any makers mark. The boss on the 6.5" barrel the sight is pinned into is untouched and the rear sight looks to have never been adjusted. It is wearing a set of pre war Magnas that do not number to the gun but look to have been there for a long time.
It will certainly see range time, probably even this weekend. And I may just have to shoot a deer or a black bear with it too, I try to not only shoot all my guns but to hunt with them too.

I'll try to get some pictures up in the next day or two for you guys to have a look at.

The gun serial number is 402xx and the grips are stamped 60123. Any good guesses as to the vintage of either?

A 3rd .44 5" blue, # 37585, shipped in March 1931. 2nd and 3rd models were produced and sold concurrently from 1927 to about 1940, so the numbers are interspursed. Also, the .38/44 Heavy Duty and Outdoorsman revolvers were in the same SN series.
