Its been around 2yrs since I was last on here and buying firearms. Went into Copper Custom today and found a 457 with 1 mag for 399. Ended up walking out with it for 374.50. Brings my total to 3 a 457S and 2 457's. On another note good to see in the last 2yrs prices have rocketed on all 3rd gens and mags.

It doesn't seem like that long . The reason I remember is your name strikes a chord , Semper Fi and welcome back .

P.S. You caught up to me in the 457 department .

Went through a nasty divorce lol. After logging in and catching up forgot how great the folks here are on the knowledge and ingenuity on these 3rd gens.

I was looking through my list and did have another 457 which must not of made the cut appreance wise but I could of had 4 lol.

Welcome back, Marine!

I bought a 457 a couple of decades ago from a friend at a cowboy action match. When he took it out I exclaimed, "That's NOT a cowboy gun!". He retorted, "It is when a cowboy carries it!". I never forgot that because I thought it was such a perfect response from a shooter who also rode bulls in the arena!

That 457 wound up a few years later with my law partner after he gave his Para-Ord .45 to a family member and he needed a replacement gun. Since I was then carrying my CS-45 I let the 457 go.

Welcome back. I've never heard of a divorce wasn't nasty, but fortunately I've never occasion to find out.

The only 45 caliber guns I own are two 457s. One black and the other started out as Stainless, but I found an nice complete black slide that I sent to Guzzi for a rebuild.

I don't *think* that I'd buy another one, but if a nice one came along at a good price who knows?

I've owned a total of four as I kept finding ones in newer condition and bought them and sold the older ones.

I think that S&W hit it out of the ballpark with the 457.

Divorce Sucks, I've ridden that roller coaster too.

Nice find, Nice Price, Nice Pistol.

one of the last pistols I sold before the Sports Authority I worked at stopped selling pistols was a 457. The customer would stop by from time to time and tell me how well it shot and how well it ran. I was Jealous.

Welcome back. I've never heard of a divorce wasn't nasty, but fortunately I've never occasion to find out.

There is a giant chasm between a nasty divorce and a divorce where one spouse asks for a restraining order due to alleged domestic violence and causes the "victim" to have his firearms seized.

As a lawyer I have been involved in many divorces, some nasty, some not so much, and I never had a spouse/client lie to a court to get a restraining order.

And then I have my own three divorces, one nasty, one amicable, one weird - nobody asked for a restraining order. ;)

Stay tuned...

Stay tuned as I think the word is getting around amongst the "strong independent women" on TikTok and other social media platforms.

Kind Regards!

Me too!

I was having trouble finding 44 special ammo back in 2005 to fill my 696, and everyone told me it was "obsolete". I thought it would go completely extinct or at least become so rare as to become prohibitively expensive.

I asked myself,
"Self, how do other men solve this problem?"
I wanted a heavy bullet going 850 fps from at least a three-inch bbl.

My self said,
"The answer is obvious, you want a .45 or a 40."

Around that time, I saw an article by Mas Ayoob wherein he extolled the virtues of two guns, the 457 and the 4040pd. There were many such two gun articles like that in the magazines in those days. I had owned since 2000 an old 6906 from a Dept of Corr. turn in but I never took it seriously. It did build my skill set for the 3rd gen pistols. I joined this forum then and started learning about the 3rd gens from writers like 18DAI and fastbolt (I think from them and others.) I found a brand new 457 under the counter at Mace Sports and paid full retail except they gave me good on a rifle I traded in. If I knew then what I know now I would have paid twice the price!

I never yet got a 4040 but I have gotten a cs40. On the word of 18DAI on this forum I bought a 3913 which I got from a member on the classifieds here. This forum has been very helpful to me through the years.

I started grabbing up 44 special whenever I saw it in store and now, I am in no danger of running out. It is no longer rare nor was it ever obsolete, but we do regularly experience various such ammo shortages in any caliber obsolete or not.

Best Regards!
