SmithNut, I was hoping to see you here,but I had no idea of all the goodies you could bring. There has to be a "space" issue sometime in the near future for you, and I'm here to tell you, I'll take some of that "stuff" off your hands. NICE!

My Ruger 3" seems to balance better for me and doesn't seem so heavy on my belt. So much so that I sold my CS-1 3". Go figure.

No such model as a CS-2. Just the American Customs Service CS-1 and the -3's, most of which were exported to Germany IIC. Both are "Must Have" revolvers for me because of their history and finely tuned actions. Plus 3" barrels are my favorite lenghts. I luckily have one of each and the CS-3 is the better shooter by a very slim margin. Do believe it's because of the front sight. Still waiting for a nice day to take pics and post them both here on the forum.
Here is the CS-3. I slapped a set of Ahrends on it and promptly put the Pacs back on after 3 cylinders of Speer GD's 158 gr. HP's. Pacs made for a more natural sight picture and were way more comfortable to shoot.

Both M586's shown are wearing the grips they were shipped with. The 2 1/2" is wearing the factory RB Combats, the 3" L-Comp was shipped from the PC with the Altamont RB boot grips.

My PC681. This was one of the guns originally finished in the Birdsong's Black T and Green T finishes. When I got the gun, it was starting to show some finish wear, so I used 120 gr. aluminum oxide at about 25 psi to remove it. I followed that with a bead blasting. I think I like it the was it is, and probably won't polish it. I took it to the range yesterday to test some home-rolled 158 gr. LSWC rounds loaded with 14.6 gr. of W296 (gas checked). It shot very well, and the rounds had a bit of poop to them.

3" 681
Did S+W ever make any "standard" 681's with a 3" tube? The only 3" 681's I ever seem to see are the PC models. I'm a big fan of the fixed sight models. Not so much a fan of ported barrels.

No, there has been no standard production 3" M681's (at least to date), however the RSR version - the one mentioned above that was originally shipped with the black/green T finish - was made without the quad porting.

Weather finally cleared and I took some crappy pics of my CS-1 and CS-3 with my new TT Gunleather Snap holster. The CS-3 and TT were Christmas presents from my kind wife who let me off a year on "No More Guns" probation period. Bout killed me! My pics do not do the revolvers or the holster justice. It's freezing out and blowing a steady 35 MPH+ so I didn't take my time.

Here are some newer pictures of my GP 100. If you look closely you can see where my gunsmith milled out the front of my sight to improve the contrast.
Local Scheels had a nice M686-5+ with a 3 inch barrel that held 7. Price was $499.99 and if I had the extra cash I would have got it. Can live with MIM and frame mounted firing pin. Still holding out for a CS-1 3 inch to come my way.
