3" Model 66 No Good?

Very cool. Looks like I was way off in my assumption. With others reporting two letters on their grip frames, it now makes perfect sense that they are initials of someone that worked on the gun.

Thanks for the kind replies.

I was actually just kidding. I should have written "J/K" after the post and didn't even think to do that. I apologize...it was a poor attempt at humor.

LOL, that actually is pretty funny. I originally thought that you might be joking - that is a pretty unusual name you threw out. The mistery of the two letters remains unsolved, for now. This thread has helped in that I now know that my gun isn't the only one with two large letters stamped on the grip frame. Maybe someone will see this that can explain the significance.

Model 66-4 with 3 inch barrel

I hope you like your model 66-4 3 inch gun as much as I like mine. I got it a couple of years ago and find the 3 inch barrel length to be perfect.

Thank you for your acceptance. I actually think it may be something along the lines of the initials of an inspector...seems to make sense.

I took the 66 to the range, yesterday, and was very please with the accuracy and feel of the gun. I put 150 rounds of my .38 Special reloads through it. Fifty each of three different bullet/powder combinations and they all shot very nicely. The most accurate load was 4.0 gr. of HP-38 behind 148 gr. (hard-cast) DEWC's from Rim Rock Bullets. I bought these bullets to try to duplicate the performance of Buffalo Bore's .38 Special 150 gr. Lead Wadcutter ammo. I don't have a chrono, but suspect I'm right at the line that seperates regular .38 Special from +P - I fired a few cylinders through my Model 42 (Airweight) and they were quite snappy. They are very pleasant in the 66, however. It's a tough call between this gun and my 3-1/2" 27-2, as far as which is my favorite gun to take to the range. That speaks volumes as to how much I like this gun.

I don't know what that stands for, but I know I REALLY like that gun!

148 grain double ended wad-cutters. They are mostly for target shooting, as they cut nice perfect holes through paper, due to their blunt nose.

The two bullets on the right, in this picture, are wad-cutters.
