I tried making a load with just 9.0 gr. of AA9 under a 180 gr Hornady "subsonic"...unfortunately it averaged over 1,200 fps from my 8.5" CMMG!
Then I grabbed up some 180 grain Hornady over 11.0 gr. of Lil'gun and got a string of shots that differed by no more than 17 fps for an entire string of 10 shots from the same 8.5" barrel!
Velocity ranged from 1,089 - 1,106 fps which is a bit too fast for my purposes...and these are pretty light loads...which means I'm gonna have to push into the 208-240 gr range to develop a subsonic load...I was trying to see how 180's would do because of cost...these days any bullet over 200 grains in ..308 is quite pricey.
