I was getting into my Uncle Sam's bunk bed. Yup Oct 20, 1980 I was full on baked chicken, mashed potatos, and milk. Tomorrow morning I started my first day as a soldier. I retired at 20. But for some weird reason it has been on my mind all day. Dropped my son off at school. Then helped a few retired LEO's price some guns for an estate sale. One of the guys had to put his Mom in a nursing home to the tune of $4000 a month. Had a few shotguns and handguns but lot's of antique furniture. It will go well. Then we all headed over to a local tavern and had a great day. Beer, good food, lies, and much much laughter. At the house now with my big guy getting ready to play some cards and watch a movie.
My Mom who is in bad shape too at 83 is on the phone with my son now. She called a few min's ago. Her first comment was, "do you know what today is?" Almost like she remembered it too.. I was only 17. Mom & Dad had to sign for me. No biggie 4th generation Army. Dad did Korea & Vietnam. Grandad was a Death March survivor. Great Grandad was too late for WW1 and too old for WW2 but still served. Great Great was with the Richmond Artillery through the War Between The States. We all started out as cannon cockers(RedLegs)(Artillerymen).
I love this Country, my Son and you guys too..
God Bless All That Have Served & Continue To Do So
(Yes there was a S&W at the estate sale but I already bought it LOL) Just had to kick that in
